Chapter 4

In chapter 4 Albert’s father sneaks out I the early morning to take Joey (the horse) away to sell him. He leads him out quietly to the village where there are soldiers and officers. Albert’s father takes him to one of the army captains and sells him for £40. Just as Albert’s father sells him, Albert runs up and tries to stop it. Unfortunately he is too late and he cannot do anything. So he tries to join the army instead. The captain says “There is nothing you can do until you are old enough to join the army” which gives Albert the idea for later in life. Albert wriggles Joey’s nose and his ears and tells him “He will find him” and walks away sadly.
